i get thesame answers as well when i discuss with my clients on a certain site. sometimes they tend to think that when you tell them something, it has something to do with your business to let them pay more, which isnt the case for us. i guess doctors has the only legit professional opinion around.

Obviously business should never interfere with personal matters because nasty things can happen, that are best avoided, however at the rate business is advancing through ranks nowdays, this is actualy impossible. Because we are business people, one way or another.

Excellent question. A personal opinion is your own thought about something that is not derived from thoughts of another person. A professional opinion requires certain types of skilled work requiring formal training or education. I do believe there is a difference. Cheers!

I was thinking of the same question just now. Did a Google and came across this entry.

I am a pharmacist by profession. Very often, customers/patients would ask me to recommend products like which brand of multi vitamins is better etc.

As a professional, I gotta tell them that they (different brands) are mostly quite similar and you can’t really objectively say one brand is better than the other.

But as a human being, I do have my own personal preferences based on experience or pure bias.

So, IMO, there is a difference between personal and professional opinion. But that is just my personal opinion. I am not a professor in behavoiural psychology. No pun intended.

I find this an interesting topic as recently my boss told me to “keep my personal opinions to myself and just provide professional”. Problem for me as it was my professional opinion, based on my personal, professional experience. I am not in web design – project management so my opinion was regarding a project deliverable.
